Gesture - A Modern Chair by Steelcase

I have been thinking about the pace of innovation in the field of technology. But are other areas improving as fast as the tech industry. Have you thought about this question. There are some good improvements in the automobile and home appliances sector, but how far has the furniture and office decor advanced. We sit on more or less the similar types of chairs that our previous generations used. I agree that a little improvements like better cushioning and wheels are attached to the chairs for mobility. But nothing more than that.

In this age of multi tasking and fast paced life, it is challenging to maintain a good health, due to the sheer reason of lack of time. The two places where my generation spends most of the time is on the chair in the office cubicle and on the bed at home. While people think and buy the soft beds for home, as sleep is one of the most important recharging mechanisms for the human body. But what about the day time. Doesn't your body deserve the same comfort, albeit in a different posture during the day time in office. The engineers at Steelcase have solved this exact problem. In today's age, everyone carries at least a couple of electronic gadgets in addition to their main desktop.

Postures supported by Gesture

Steelcase launched this new chair Gesture in Bangalore recently and I was curious to find out what is so special about the chair. Trust me, it looks a little different compared to the office chairs today. But there are a lot of comfort features hidden inside. It may not be the fanciest of chairs to please your eyes, but it definitely knows how to get you seated comfortable, and moreover in numerous postures of your choice. We do not sit the same way while using different gadgets like smart phone, tablet, laptop, desktop. Even reading a book demands a different posture. So what have the engineers at Steelcase incorporated in the new Gesture chair. The following video and picture speaks of itself. So many positions supported and the best part I noticed while trying out the chair, is that it supports out lower back very well. If you observe, it takes the shape of your posture and adjusts accordingly.

I hope to write a complete review of the chair in coming days. You can find more about the chair here.
